Hina Chavda, Dance Teacher and Media Degree graduate has been dancing since the age of 2, working for charity events and various festivals, with a background of family dancers. She joined Sonia Sabri's Kathak dance class in 1996 as well as performing for Sampad and Lehar Dance Company. She has performed for many prestigious events namely The Mega Mela at NEC for a number of years, The Asian Music and Pop Awards, ArtsFests, BBC Asian Network Unsung 2005, The Destination Show 2005, The Common Wealth Games and Richard Branson's Launch party in London, as well as national venues including Ibiza, Spain, and last year travelled to India Bangalore performing for a show raising money for Sight Savers and HIV, and raised £26000.
In November 2002 Hina became a Dance Teacher for Birmingham's Adult Education Services, teaching Bollywood Dance to mothers and young people. She also became a tutor for Birmingham ArtSites, where her work involved teaching in schools around the City, which was a great success. Hina is running classes for her local area namely Erdington. The classes began in May 2003 and to this date have been a great success with the outcome of 40 students attending and joining during the first class.
Birmingham Sports Centre approached Hina in May 2003 to become a Bollywood Dance instructor for the Centre running classes for Women in June 2003. Hina is now a Bollywood Dance instructor for Birmingham Dance X Change and Sapa (School of Asian Performing Arts).Children and adults have all enjoyed the unique method of teaching created by Hina, they have not only developed skills in dance but also built up a vast amount of confidence which is an achievement in itself.
